Jo Fairley is one of the UK’s leading female entrepreneurs. After becoming the UK’s youngest-ever magazine editor, at the age of 23, she went on to co-found the pioneering Green & Black’s Chocolate, the world’s first organic chocolate and the UK’s first Fairtrade-marked product, now a $100 million a year brand.
Andrew is CEO and a founder member of Risilience. He is responsible for the overall business success and direction of the company, and was the main architect behind the models and analytics that go into the Climate Risilience™ and Enterprise Risilience™ platforms.
Andrew has previously been one of the early-stage innovators of the catastrophe modelling industry for insurance, where he has created and brought numerous analytics products to market.
Andrew is one of the founder members of Cambridge Centre for Risk Studies at Judge Business School, University of Cambridge, where he maintains a position as Chief Scientist.
Danny is Chairman and a founder member of Risilience. He is an authority on managing risk in business and has published widely in his capacity as professor of Operations Research at the University of Cambridge Judge Business School, where he also founded the Cambridge Centre for Risk Studies for which he is Academic Director.
Danny’s interests in business risk include identification and management of systemic risk, risk aversion in investment, economic equilibria models and optimisation methods.
Chris joined Burberry in April 2023 as Director of Climate, Nature, and Reporting. He is responsible for driving Burberry’s environmental strategies and managing ESG disclosures. He is an experienced advisor to business leaders on climate change, having previously worked as a consultant across sectors including energy, chemicals, manufacturing, logistics, real estate, media and advertising, and financial services.
Chris also has experience in climate policy, having previously worked for the Scottish Government on the development and delivery of Scotland’s Energy Strategy and Climate Change Plans, and the Scottish Government’s COP26 business engagement strategy.
Tom is PwC’s Consumer Market sustainability leader. He has 20 years’ experience, leading and advising investors and businesses develop to become more sustainable.
Tom sits on several advisory boards including HRH Prince of Wales’ Accounting for Sustainability initiative, the Value Balancing Alliance and the International Foundation for Valuing Impact.
He currently leads projects with a variety of multinational clients to help them manage trade-offs in decision making, develop costed up plans to reach net zero and wider sustainability commitments, identify risk and opportunity in their value chains, and communicate with greater simplicity and credibility.
Grainne is Supply Chain Sustainability & Traceability Lead at IBM Consulting in United Kingdom and Ireland.
Matt is Executive Director of the UK Centre for Greening Finance & Investment, based at the University of Oxford, a strategic board advisor on transition planning and currently co-chairs the Disclosure Working Group of the UK’s Transition Plan Taskforce (TPT). Prior to his role in Oxford, Matt established and led the Bank of England’s Climate Hub, working closely with Mark Carney on the launch of TCFD, designed and delivered the UK’s Green Finance Strategy, helped to co-chair the G20’s Green Finance Study Group and establish Willis Towers Watson’s Climate and Resilience Hub.
Prior to his career in green finance, Matt studied Physics, worked in environmental science and, on graduation from Stanford Business School, co-founded a green venture bringing solar lighting to off-grid villages in emerging markets. He has been featured in TIME Magazine, Business Week and the Economist, amongst other publications, and speaks regularly on Climate, Sustainability and the Greening of Finance & Investment.
Dr Michelle Tuveson is Chairman & Executive Director at the Cambridge Centre for Risk Studies at the University of Cambridge Judge Business School. During Dr Tuveson’s tenure, the Cambridge Centre for Risk Studies has become a world leading provider of research and thought leadership in scenario-based modelling of multi-disciplinary risks to society and businesses.
Dr Tuveson chairs the Centre’s Advisory Board, is a former advisory board member to the World Economic Forum’s Global Risk Report and former IEEE Standards Committee Member on the General Ethical Principles for Artificial Intelligence. Dr Tuveson’s research focuses on the intersection of risk and sustainability including sustainable growth and transition to a lower carbon economy. She is a frequent commentator and speaker and her articles have been published in reports such as Banking & Financial Services Policy Report (Wolters Kluwer) and Financial Times Special Report on Risk Management. She earned degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Johns Hopkins University, and University of Cambridge.
Nick is Head of Climate & Sustainability Risk at Marsh. In this role Nick helps to develop Marsh’s global sustainability and climate services – including risk modelling and management – to support clients as they transition towards net zero carbon emissions. Nick was previously Head of Strategic Risk Consulting at Marsh in the UK, as part of which he lead the roll-out of Marsh’s climate proposition to clients.
Nick combines extensive consulting experience with a strong background in climate having completed a DPhil in climate change modelling at Oxford University.
James is the Head of ESG Finance at Tesco, responsible for Tesco’s external reporting and readiness for new regulations.
James has 17 years retail experience, 13 years at Tesco and 4 years at M&S. He qualified as an accountant at KPMG in 2001
Marcelo Behar is a sociologist and lawyer who graduated from the University of São Paulo in Brazil. He has an extensive background working with NGOs and has also worked as a journalist covering Foreign Politics for Folha de São Paulo. From 2003 to 2009, he served the Brazilian government in various roles, including Chief-of-Staff in the Ministry of Justice, where he led the Brazilian Disarmament Campaign. He later became Vice-Minister in the Strategic Affairs Ministry.
In 2009, Marcelo Behar transitioned to the corporate sector, focusing on infrastructure. He joined Natura in 2013 and currently holds the position of Vice President of Sustainability and Group Affairs at Natura &Co., a global purpose-driven group that comprises Natura, Avon and The Body Shop – all of which are committed to address the climate crises, protect the Amazon, defend Human Rights and embrace circularity.
Scott is SVP Model Development at Risilience. He has authored over two-dozen academic publications and dozens of professional reports on energy, climate change and sustainable finance. He completed an MPhil and PhD at the University of Cambridge where he was also a Junior Research Fellow at Darwin College.
Scott was a member of the Centre for Risk Studies and continues to contribute as Chief Economist to guide key research at the Centre.
Alex is a Data Scientist at Risilience, working predominantly in climate modelling. Her main goals are to develop Bayesian statistical models which incorporate uncertainty into the product.
Prior to joining Risilience Alex worked for a SaaS start-up, designing algorithms to detect fraud, waste and abuse in private healthcare data.
Alex holds a MSci and a PhD in Physics from the University of Birmingham.
Dr. Mukesh Kumar, an Associate Professor at the Department of Engineering within the Institute for Manufacturing and the head of the Industrial Resilience Research Group, specialises in supply chain resilience, sustainability, and distributed manufacturing. His particular emphasis is on the food, pharmaceuticals, automotive, and aerospace sectors. Backed by esteemed institutions such as EPSRC, BBSRC, Nestlé, and the Three Guineas Trust, his research has been instrumental in shaping practices for global manufacturing and supply chain decisions. Currently, Dr. Kumar and his team are undertaking an ambitious initiative to set up a Global Critical Mineral Supply Chain Observatory Lab.
Nigel heads Clyde & Co’s UK reinsurance team and leads the firm’s global Resilience and Climate Change Risk practice.
Thomas is VP Product at Risilience and is responsible for the overall strategy and commercial success of the Risilience product suite. He also leads the data science and model development team. In this role Thomas defines the product strategy and roadmap and, working closely with the development teams, manages the end-to-end development lifecycle.
Prior to joining Risilience Thomas worked at Guidewire Software where he led the European Predictive Analytics and Risk Consulting team. Thomas spent seven years at Risk Management Solutions (RMS) in a variety of client-facing and product-management roles.
Thomas holds a BSc (Hons) from the University of Leeds in Biochemistry and Bioinformatics.
Andy is Climate Policy Analyst at Risilience, with a focus on the policy response to climate change and its impacts on transition risk.
Before joining Risilience, Andy was based in the Cabinet Office where he worked on the negotiation strategy for the UK’s Presidency of COP26. Prior to this, Andy worked in the Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy on energy security and decarbonisation policy. Before entering the Civil Service, Andy worked in a range of environmental- and renewables- focussed roles, including consultancy, and in planning and development at Lightsource BP.
Andy holds an MSc in Global Energy and Climate Policy from SOAS, University of London. He also holds a BA (Hons) in German and Dutch and an MA in Town and Regional Planning, both from the University of Sheffield.
Jean-Pierre (JP) Wack is a Product Manager with experience developing science and technology driven businesses for climate change mitigation and adaptation in the Americas, Europe and Asia.
Previously at Spatial Informatics Group (SIG), he was productizing applied research for wildfire risk modelling with the Pyregence consortium in Western US and remote sensing services with the USAID/NASA SERVIR program in the Amazon basin. Prior to SIG, he led the adoption of forest fire detection technologies in Indonesia with Insight Robotics and environmental design for historic buildings In London with Eight Associates.
Jean-Pierre holds an MBA from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and a master’s in Economics from the University of Strasbourg.
