In June 2023, the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) published its first two finalised International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS®) Sustainability Disclosure Standards, marking a new era of sustainability-related disclosures across the globe.
While the sustainability standards do not apply by default in any jurisdiction, the ISSB is strongly encouraging their adoption in order to develop a global baseline for sustainability disclosure to meet capital market needs – needs that business leaders cannot ignore.
